On April 27, 2025, the SO and I took a trip out to Moravia, NY for a hike at Fillmore Glen State Park. We didn’t realize the gorge trail was closed at this time, so we were limited to the rim trails and catching glimpses of the many waterfalls from above… But that’s okay, because now we have a reason to go back and see more.
Fillmore Glen State Park – Moravia, NY hiking vlog (gorge trail still closed for the season)
Waterfalls at Fillmore Glen State Park – Moravia, NY // watch on AtmosfyReplica of the log cabin that 13th President Millard Fillmore was born in, in Moravia, New York. (If the name doesn’t sound familiar, no worries- he was ranked [by many historians] among the least memorable presidents.)The gorge trail is currently closed, but the rim trails are open to explore. Trillium flowers are in bloom right now. (Don’t pick them! They are protected by law, and some species are endangered.)
The gorge trail access point is closed (off-season), so we had to switch to the other rim trail here… still beautiful. (We will definitely be returning once the trail opens, and I’ll be sure to share the splendor in another adventure post.)
A small peek at the waterfalls below. (Always be mindful of your distance from cliff edges! It’s my height plus the camera angle that makes me look closer than I actually was.)That bright springtime sun feels SO NICE after the cold New York winters.
Beautiful photos and such a refreshing read! Even with the gorge trail closed, it looks like a lovely hike—those waterfall views from above are still stunning. And now you’ve got the perfect excuse for a return trip! Can’t wait to see your next adventure when the trail reopens!
