Happy summer! To celebrate, the SO and I went to this year’s Strawberry Festival in Owego, NY.
Previously: Owego Strawberry Festival 2024
I love this festival, held annually in a quaint little town located in the Southern Tier of New York.
Friday evening was the block party — a lot of food vendors, live music, and fireworks to end the night (we didn’t stay that late).
Saturday (the summer solstice this year) was the actual festival, with the food and live music acts scattered throughout downtown, plus a parade in the morning (we didn’t go to that), and a LOT more vendors selling a variety of items from paintings to jewelry to strawberry jam to walking sticks… there’s something for everyone.
Last year we saw the carving of the new strawberry, after the previous had fallen victim to both insects and the elements after years of sitting there… and now, after being painted, this is the final product.

We’ve made strawberry daiquiris the ritual celebration drink, stopping first at the Owego Elks, since we enter downtown from that side.

And then after some wandering, we headed to the historic Park View Inn & Restaurant for some actual food. And their daiquiris.

After the late lunch, we decided to head out. We were a bit sunburned, the festival was to end in a little over an hour, and we still had to wander across town to the weird side street we parked on.
Thanks, Owego. That was fun. See you next year. 🍓
