I had a great holiday weekend with the SO and friends… it’s technically not over yet, being Sunday evening, but close enough.
Hot, sunny weather, road trip, hiking, cookout and a fire with friends. Life is currently good for us here in New York State, despite everything else happening..

You know, despite the fact that we just celebrated America’s Independence Day during a time of early dictatorial rule. Ironic.
Despite the fact that said dictator is dismantling the NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration), leading to a tragic mishandling of an unseen [by us] natural disaster —
The Texas flood.

The death toll is rising, and at 80 last I checked, including a children’s summer camp.
And with the cuts to FEMA (and proposal to eliminate it entirely, with no replacement plan), it’s unclear if there will be any help with disaster relief once the water level drops back to normal.
I cannot express how terrible this is to hear, and I’m watching the coverage through independent channels online, as big news stations aren’t covering WHY such dangerous weather wasn’t reported to the people so they could evacuate. These humans are pawns in an evil ego game, played by some of the absolute worst people our country has to offer.
Hang in there, Texas. We see you, even in New York. The next steps are currently unclear, but we see the water. We see the death toll.

I am so sorry.
I know that too many families will never find closure, but I hope that they will one day find peace.
And I hope those who survive, animals included, find their way back to their loved ones.
And I hope that those who are safe enough to do so, after helping those affected by this disaster, will find the courage and inspiration to stand with us and say NO MORE.
If we don’t all fight back and put an end to this sick joke of an administration, then this is just the beginning.
NOAA will be losing access to three military weather satellites (used for tracking hurricanes, etc) at the end of this month — scheduled for July 31.
