Upon the death of my previous wallet, I very quickly had to find a new one – something compact, durable enough to last several years, and feels luxe (because I believe what you carry your money in can shape your mindset around wealth) yet still affordable.
After searching Amazon, I decided on the Kate Spade Devin zip card case, which retails for $88 USD / $98 CAD. (And there are several financing options available as well, in the case you may want to pay in installments.)

For durability reasons, I chose saffiano leather instead of the softer pebbled leathers that I like for my handbags.
If you’re unfamiliar with saffiano leather, here’s a brief rundown [from Google]:
Saffiano leather in a Kate Spade product is a durable, scratch-resistant cowhide with a distinctive cross-hatch pattern that is pressed into a wax coating, giving it a structured, shiny, and easy-to-clean surface. This specific type of treatment provides long-lasting durability, making it a popular choice for handbags that need to withstand daily wear and tear.
Characteristics of Kate Spade Saffiano Leather
- Cross-Hatch Pattern: Its most recognizable feature is the machine-pressed crosshatch pattern.
- Wax Coating: The leather is treated with a wax finish, which adds to its durability and gives it a distinctive shine.
- Scratch Resistance: The combination of the wax coating and textured pattern makes it highly resistant to scratches and scuffs.
- Durability: It is known for its strength and ability to withstand wear and tear, making it ideal for everyday use.
- Easy to Clean: The wax treatment helps to prevent stains and makes the leather easy to wipe down and maintain.

I really love how compact this little wallet is, the quality of the leather and the hardware, the zippers slide easily without any problems, and it just feels nice. It fits in all of my bags and is not at all uncomfortable carrying in a jacket pocket.
I will definitely be carrying this little beauty for the next several years. If you’re looking for the same or similar things in a wallet, consider the Kate Spade Devin zip card case. I really don’t think you’ll regret it.

Pros & Cons: Kate Spade Devin Zip Card Case
What I Love
✔ Compact but functional
It’s slim enough to fit easily into a small crossbody or coat pocket, but still holds the essentials without feeling cramped.
✔ Clean, understated design
The silhouette is simple and classic. No loud logos, just a small, tasteful detail that feels polished and timeless.
✔ Secure zip closure
The zip adds peace of mind, especially if you carry loose cards or cash. Everything stays in place, even when tossed into a bag.
✔ Quality leather feel
The leather feels smooth and well-made, with the kind of finish that wears in nicely rather than looking worn out.
✔ Easy everyday piece
This is one of those items you don’t think about once you start using it — which, to me, is the mark of good design.
Things to Consider
✘ Limited capacity
If you prefer carrying a lot of cards, receipts, or coins, this may feel restrictive. It’s best for minimalists.
✘ Not a full wallet replacement
There’s no space for larger items or organization beyond the basics, so it works best as a card case rather than an all-in-one wallet.
✘ Price reflects the brand
You’re paying for the design and name. If you’re purely focused on function, there are less expensive alternatives — though they may not feel the same.
Who It’s Best For
If you like streamlined essentials, smaller bags, and accessories that feel quietly polished rather than trendy, this card case fits beautifully into that lifestyle.
