Hacienda Mexican Restaurant — Quick Info
📍 Location: Binghamton, New York
🍹 Known For: Margaritas, tacos, and classic Mexican dishes
🌮 What I Ordered: Green Iguana Margarita and Tacos a la Diabla
🎉 Visited: after Binghamton’s annual Parade Day celebration
If you’re looking for authentic Mexican food in Binghamton, Hacienda is a great place to sit down and unwind after exploring downtown.
Parade Day in downtown Binghamton, NY is loud, chaotic, and full of energy. Streets packed with people, music drifting through open doors, and a general sense that the whole city has decided to celebrate at once.
After spending the afternoon walking through the crowds and documenting the madness for my Parade Day 2026 vlog, I was more than ready to sit down and eat an actual meal.
That’s how we ended up at Hacienda Mexican Restaurant, just a short drive from the downtown chaos — and it turned out to be exactly the kind of reset we needed after a long day out.
Starting with Chips & Salsa…
Like many Mexican restaurants, the meal started with a basket of warm tortilla chips and a bowl of fresh salsa.
The salsa had a bright tomato base with just enough spice to keep it interesting, and the chips were crisp and sturdy enough to scoop without breaking — a small detail, but one that makes a difference when you’ve spent hours walking around and suddenly realize how hungry you are.

…and a Green Iguana Margarita 🍹
To drink, I ordered a large Green Iguana Margarita, a vibrant melon-green cocktail served with a sugared rim and lemon-lime garnish.
It was refreshing, sweet, and cold enough to feel like an instant reset after the Parade Day crowds. Sometimes a margarita just hits exactly right, and this was one of those moments.

Tacos a la Diabla 🌮
For dinner, I ordered the Tacos a la Diabla, which come filled with:
- steak
- chorizo
- jalapeño
- green sauce
The tacos arrived hot and generously filled, served alongside rice and refried beans.
The combination of steak and chorizo gave them a deep, savory flavor, while the jalapeño and green sauce added just enough heat to balance the richness. Fresh onion and cilantro on top brought everything together.
It’s the kind of meal that feels satisfying without being overly heavy — exactly what you want after spending half the day wandering around downtown Binghamton.

A Relaxed Dinner After the Parade Day Madness
What I appreciated most about stopping at Hacienda that night was the contrast.
Downtown Binghamton on Parade Day is loud and crowded. Hacienda felt calm by comparison — a place where you could sit down, breathe, and actually enjoy your food without feeling rushed.
Moments like this are one of the things I enjoy most about documenting local places around the Southern Tier. Big events bring people into the city, but it’s often the restaurants and small businesses nearby that turn a busy day into a full experience.
