A “Soft Life” Guide for 2026: Living Well Without Burning Out

Prioritize well-being without abandoning discipline, growth, or meaningful work.

March was a slower, less outwardly productive month for me.

And a more difficult one, as I had to spend a lot of time focusing on my health — getting treatment for perimenopause (apparently I’ve been needing this for years now!), waiting out the downtime (and discomfort) that comes with carpal tunnel injections, and then a couple other medication tweaks to keep me on track and doing well.

It was important to get on these things before the springtime magic begins. 🌱✨️

It was nice getting some extra rest, nourishing my body, and focusing on healing for a bit.

It wasn’t all rest though. There was a lot of behind-the-scenes planning, decision-making, and other related technical stuff. The world is burning, but I still have things to accomplish this year, too.

Time waits for no one. Certainly not me.

The weather has been an unpredictable mess, as usual for this time of year in New York.

Our forests are loving the rain though. 🌧

And it’s nice to have the privilege of slowing down and watching the shift between seasons.

The dreary days are beautiful in their own way.

Oni watching hail fall onto the deck.

I love the quiet time spent alone.

That’s when any difficult feelings you’ve been avoiding come to surface. It’s an opportunity to process and learn what’s truly important to you. (Journaling prompts can help!)

This month has helped me see all I’ve accomplished, as well as who I am becoming.

My discernment is sharp and unapologetic, and I water my own proverbial grass first, so I can give when there is a need.

And there are a lot of pressing needs in this world currently.

There is nothing good about this fascist regime setting our economy on fire, or starting a war in Iran, or any of the other unbelievably stupid things happening that I hoped we didn’t have the caucacity to do but did anyway..

But it IS forcing us to have a lot of difficult conversations.

Like how the rhetoric coming from the Iranian government’s social media account(s) is more comforting to us than that of The White House.

The world saw our protest, and several other countries had protests of their own.

We ARE making a difference, but this is only the beginning. We have to act, and at every single opportunity. Especially with our votes and where we spend our money. And if you can donate time, money, or resources to local charities helping your communities, do it. 💪🏻

And looking at the month ahead…

April is great because that’s when all the spring festivities begin! 🌸

I’ve got some events planned for this month, and hiking trips as well. Waterfalls are always amazing in the rainy season! 🌧

And taking the time to rotate my wardrobe and add a few new key pieces has been a fun little project to prepare for the warmer weather. This practice helps me to focus on the [literal] brighter days ahead.

Thanks for reading and following along with me on this journey. 💖

And remember to celebrate progress, even if it’s small. ✌🏻

Remember to be present in what you are doing, and take time to enjoy it. It seems to be that the American culture celebrates being very full-on working, networking, never stopping, and it is not an approach that works for everyone. It is also not the approach followed by many other other countries.
