It’s happening! The SO and I finally made the initial move into our new home… it’s scattered, and we’re also scattered, and sore, and exhausted, and the kitties are stressed.. but it’s coming together! (And we’ll be moving the rest of my stuff throughout November, so we still have a lot to do.)
We got all the main stuff moved Friday night (Halloween), and then the plan was to spend the weekend creating a sense of order in the chaos.

I barely slept the first night, but that allowed me some slow time with Oni, my cat, and helping him adjust. He’s so stressed. And ANGRY. But I know that once he understands, and sees how great this place is for kitties, he’ll love it. Just not yet.
And I was visited by our chonky racoon neighbors a little after 5am. I love having a forested backyard.

Saturday was spent cleaning, running what felt like endless errands, and creating a basic living setup. The time passed so quickly and it felt like we barely accomplished anything.
But Sunday was magic. ✨️ (kind of) Things started coming together.

I swept the layers of various leaves, in varying levels of decay, off the patio, being extremely mindful of the weak boards in the center, caused by a couple years of wet leaves blanketing them. At least now they can dry out a bit and we can see what we’re going to be working with next year when the weather gets warmer.
I also swept around the main door and part of the path leading out back and down the hill. Frankly, a lot of it was just to check out the landscaping options, but the leaves also needed to make their way into the weird empty flowerbed before it snows.

I started feeling better once the SO got all of the bigger furniture moved into place, and then we started filling in the rest, little by little.

We have such a long way to go, but it’s a good start.
I plan to pick up some color swatches for all of the painting I want to do once it warms up outside and I can open the windows — walls, cabinets, sills, etc. Better get that color scheme figured out now.

It’s currently after 8pm on Sunday night, and the SO has been filling in the empty shelf spaces with books, DVDs, and other fun little things, and it looks so much better than when I took the photos earlier. More like home.

Not terrible for the first couple of days.
We finally did it! The place we’ve been manifesting! I’m tired, but I’m happy. Very happy. 💖
